Reviewed by Francesca : This book is the product of the Combined Prehistoric Expedition's forays in the upper Wadi Girafi Basin. The information which has been yielded on the southern Levantian Timnian Tradition (a pastoral tradition existing between 7000-3000 BP) is invaluable. Settlement patterns and the adaptive responses of the peoples to their changing environment is examined in graphic detail. The book is divided into two sections: the survey results and the excavations. The numerous line-drawings, maps and black and white photos enhance this fantastic scholar book. This book is highly recommended for all interested students and scholars.

Reviewed by Francesca : This lovely book concerns the life of one of the most distinguished Egyptologist: I. E. S. Edwards (1906-1996). His most unusual 'affair' with Egyptology started, as a young man, when he learned of Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. His life was made of passion and his energy seemed to touch everyone around him. His life was one that could surely touch many of those interested in studying Egyptology and a lesson in sharing, internationally, the discoveries and in propagating a vision of the past.

From AEB: This is a wonderfully illustrated history of a particular tomb; that of an 18th Dynasty official in Western Thebes. Nakht was a scribe and astronomer to Thutmose IV, and from the extraordinary richness of his tomb, it seems as if he must have served his master well. There are examples of all the usual features of a wealthy tomb in this book; shabtis, canopic jars, jewelry, papyri and stelae. All are beautifully illustrated in full color. On the elaborate mummy case is a perfectly-preserved painting of the rituals involved in mummification, while around the walls glow scenes of everyday life, from harvesting the wheat to the essential bath after a day's exertions. This gem-like book opens a unique window into the past.

From AEB: In this book, the author deals with Egypt's sporting traditions, in which are included wrestling, rowing, boating, jousting from boats, swimming, gymnastics, and various games. Tutankhamun's love of sports is evident from the tomb equipment, which included toys, hunting chariots, models of boats, bows, arrows, boomerangs, throwsticks, slings for hunting, etc. The author argues that the king was truly a sportsman!
