About Francesca Jourdan

After visiting the Louvre and Place de la Concorde in Paris years ago, Francesca Jourdan developed a passion for Egyptology. Since then, she has been studying the subject privately and has published several articles on the subject. Studies: She has studied Ancient Egyptian History by correspondence through Professor and historian Michel Guay of the Université du Québec à Montréal. Previous studies have included a correspondence course with the Oriental Institute of Chicago with Dr Peter Piccione. She has also studied Egyptian Hieroglyphs at the Institut Kheops , in Paris. Publications: Francesca has published several articles in the British journal Inscription : Journal of Ancient Egypt , as well as a few book reviews. In August 1999, she co-wrote a two-page review of Egypt's Making by Michael Rice , which appeared in World Archaeological Bulletin . Articles in InScription were on the papyrus, the obelisks of Rome, the lighthouse of Alexandria and the Narmer Palette. She has written articles for her website and other journals, the latest ones on the Egyptian calendars and the Step Pyramid at Saqqarah. Other interests: In the early 1990x, Francesca was the website designer for two websites: www.kitchening.com and www.medfooddirect.com. She has also done much work as a food researcher and a cookbook translator. Her mother, Andrea Jourdan, is the author of the book The Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Lucca . Francesca's many interests include: linguistics, music, cinema, acting, theatre, tennis, fencing, architecture, anthropology, traveling to undiscovered lands and learning new languages. Nevertheless Egyptology remains Francesca's ultimate passion.
